This site is a mirror of Scarywater, the anime torrent tracker which used to be located at a.scarywater.net.
While many fansub groups have migrated to other torrent trackers, quite a few useful torrents remain. This was the main reason for providing this mirror.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get in contact with mxs and obtain the original data files for Scarywater. This mirror was built using wget.
As a result a number of features - such as stats & graphs no longer work.
The Scarywater tracker server was provided by Swift Communications, so as long as it keeps running the tracker will hopefully stay online for the forseeable future. If not, DHT might help.
This mirror is provided as-is, with very little changes. If you experience problems or (as fansub group) you want me to remove certain content, please post your requests & comments in
this thread on the AnimeSuki Forum.

Due to my lack of time and money to keep maintaining this site, it will be shut down by March 12, 2010.
It has been a good ride, but all things must come to an end -- and seven years, in internet
time, is very close to an eternity.
Thank you all for putting up with me for all these years, and special thanks to jaf, who
is the only reason this site is still operational, since he has been running it day-to-day
for a long time.
A debt of gratitude is also owed to Swift Communications who,
by providing a server free of charge, have halved the monthly costs for several years as well -- the
remaining server is rented from ThePlanet, at $189/month. Ads alone have not been paying for that
server for quite a while, but thank you for putting up with them nonetheless :-)
I should list many, many more people, and I should give much, much more text here. Alas I
would surely forget some even then. So to all those who I have not mentioned, thank you. Also a big
thank you to all who have donated over the years, however large or small a sum it may have been.

Due to a mistake on my part, the stats only go back to March 25, 2003.
Prior to this, about 110 terabytes of transfer and 552606 downloads
were trackerd by the tracker. Peak 5-minute usage was 712Mbit/sec.

The webserver suffered a hardware outage today; the system was swapped and everything should be in order
again. Sorry for the inconvenience. Tracking was not affected.
There was a webserver outage today. Tracking was not affected. The problem stemmed from a misconfigured ulimit in combination with a daily cron job and (unusually) high load on the web server. It should not happen again.
Good news, the tracker backend has been replaced -- timeouts should happen no more. It is now running a version of hypercube, for those interested.
To those that are currently experiencing timeouts on the tracker : the problem is known. The tracker
drops some connections -- however, your BitTorrent client will keep retrying until it gets one -- and
that should not take long.
A solution is in the works, though not yet ready, as quite some work is involved. On the upside, once
it is implemented it should provide considerable headroom :-)
All right, quite a bit of stuff today :-) First up, the new features.
On to sponsorship; Swift Communications has kindly agreed to sponsor
scarywater with a new dedicated server; Please consider them if you are in the market for Webhosting or
dedicated servers.
The server (named Talyn) will be used to replace the current tracker machine. Since it is more powerful,
this is good news. The move will happen over the next few days and should not cause any disruption in service;
the old tracker will forward requests for a few days, just in case there are any hickups.
Some ads have been placed on subpages. If you would not ever consider looking at them, head over to ads section and turn them off again.
There is now an IRC channel dedicated to a.scarywater.net : #scarywater@irc.synirc.org. If you are a fansubbing group and would like to request hosting on this server, please head over there and talk to an op. We enjoy the company :)
